Why join MUTA?
Membership of MUTA demonstrates to clients and regulators that your company is committed to the highest standards of
safety and professionalism in the industry. There are a number of valuable benefits enjoyed by members, too.
In the case of Fabric Structures members the ability to demonstrate evidence of good working practice through independent 3rd party verification gives MUTAmarq-accredited members an edge over the competition.
All members of MUTA must comply with the Association's general Code of Practice. In addition, Fabric Structure members must comply with our current Code of Practice
(latest version published April 2011) and Inflatable members must comply with PIPA standards essential to their relevant accreditation schemes.
Benefits of MUTA
- The collective voice of the industry — MUTA is at the forefront of innovation and professionalism for the temporary fabric structures industry, defining best practice and advising on safety standards. We represent the views and defend the interests of the industry to organisations including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), LACORS, BSI, Institution of Structural Engineers, Sector Skills Councils, Government departments and other trade associations.
- Accreditation — MUTA's accreditation schemes (MUTAmarq, PIPA) are recognised by the HSE and other Government bodies, and are increasingly a requirement in procurement processes, particularly those of local government and the rest of the public sector.
- Training — similarly, more event organisers are requiring crews working on site to be able to show evidence of competence in health and safety practices. To this end MUTA offers training for industry professionals at favourable membership rates - from our one-day StructureSafe course designed for marquee crews, through to our Ofqual-certified Diploma courses on Temporary Structures.
- MUTA Discounts on equipment and services — members' collective purchasing power has enabled MUTA to agree discounts with industry-leading equipment and services providers - including Hire Station, CAT Scan equipment and training, St John Ambulance First Aid training, Barclaycard Merchant Services, Fleet Check, The Fuelcard People, Nationwide AutoCentres and TomTom SatNav. Members may also benefit from preferential rates from our insurer members; for example a company with MUTAmarq accreditation could receive up to 40% discount off the standard premium rate compared with a company without accreditation.
- Marketing — most members are eligible to be listed on the MUTA website both alphabetically and by product. They can also advertise their services on the MUTA website free of charge, and receive a free listing and discounted advertising in the Stand Out Buyers Guide, which is issued to thousands of potential customers. Every month the activities of a member’s business are highlighted on our Member of the Month page.
- Public relations — for big announcements or new product launches, MUTA's dedicated Public Relations team (based at a leading City communications agency) help members to make waves - at no extra cost.
- Support for your business — MUTA's dedicated Legal and Business Support Helplines provide invaluable and reliable advice for members in need of support.
- Stay ahead of the competition — with MUTA's regular newsletters, regulatory and industry updates, your business will get all the latest 'must-know' information before anyone else.

Companies with this accreditation are required to follow HSE-supported best practice and are subject to periodic site inspections.
The Developing Companies Assistance Scheme (DCAS) is open to companies which hire or erect temporary fabric structures and have not been trading for more than two years.
The scheme provides members with the tools, advice and support they need to establish themselves in the industry and achieve accreditation.
Standard membership is open to all other companies including manufacturers and suppliers of textiles and textile products, and suppliers of other services to the industry.
Within standard membership there are sections for members of niche sectors such as the Association of Inflatable Manufacturers, Operators, Designers and Suppliers (AIMODS).
