What does your company do?

Manufacture Traditional and Frame Marquees and products in canvas and PVC (for example tilts and industrial machinery covers), as well as Marquee and Fibre Optic Linings. Erect and dismantle, maintain, clean and repair marquees and marquee linings (all nationwide) and marquee hire locally.

How old is your company?

The family tailoring business began during mid 1800s in Windsor, leading to the marquee manufacture and hire business establishing during 1950s. The business in its current form relocated to Norfolk in 1983 concentrating on Marquee Manufacture & Hire.

What do you consider to be your speciality or unique selling point?

We pride ourselves in being a family business with a determination to produce a quality product, on time, with efficient and friendly service, offering advice and assistance to our customers. We have many long serving, conscientious and reliable members of staff, extremely knowledgeable within their trade, and who take pride in their work and the business.

Describe a typical working day.

Our work is always varied, from first contact with our customers, usually by phone or email, producing quotes, carrying out a site visit (could be anywhere in the UK), manufacturing the product in the workshop, getting together any ancillary goods, loading up vehicles, travelling to, erecting, dismantling, cleaning on site, or cleaning and repair at our workshop, and we also hire marquees locally.

What does being a MUTA member mean to you?

In these challenging times for business, especially those in the hospitality sector, it gives us peace of mind, knowing we belong to a well-established and respected organisation, available to help us should we require information, technical advice or legal assistance, from an organisation who really understands this complex industry.

Any exciting company news?

In the last 3 years we have scaled down our business to specialise in manufacturing, enabling us to consolidate the business into an efficient and, we hope, well-respected manufacturer of semi- permanent structures and associated goods. The major investment of a new welder for 2012 will allow us to maintain production throughout our busiest times of March and April and help us keep up with new innovations in the Marquee manufacturing industry.
