NVQ Events (Temporary Structures)
The Association is the assessment centre for this level 3 NVQ which is recognised within the National Framework as the equivalent to 2 "A" levels.
Marquee crews are often under valued by those outside the industry, but we know that it takes very special skills and no small amount of ingenuity to overcome the often unforseen and challenging situations that present almost daily.
Someone in charge of a marquee installation has the responsibility for the safety of his crew and has to consider the safety of the many other contractors on and around the site. Once complete the installation can often accommodate thousands of people, all of whom trust in the competency of the erection staff for their safety.
The NVQ is about recognising this competency and degree of responsibility as well as the varied and highly developed skills required to do the job.
Funding now available
Two exciting developments are happening in 2008:
- A complete revision of the underlying National Standard will allow us to make the way in which skills are evidenced a lot more “user friendly”
- MUTA is now able to offer “Train to Gain” funding which will allow us to provide training (as opposed to just assessment) courses in the near future
A pilot is in progress and we will sortly be able to determine costs (expected to be minimal) for these courses.
